At Greenstorm, every project is an opportunity to grow — not just as a delivery partner, but as a company committed to driving positive environmental and social impact. As we navigate Wave 3 of the Warm Homes: Sustainable Homes Fund (WH:SHF), we’ve been reflecting on what this latest phase has taught us so far.

From site surveys to installs, stakeholder management to resident care, here are some of our key learnings:

A Seamless Start Sets the Tone

Wave 3 has reinforced how critical the early stages are. At Greenstorm, we’ve put additional focus on pre-works planning, ensuring that everything — from retrofit assessments to installer schedules — is locked in early. This helps us deliver at pace without compromising quality or compliance.

Communication Drives Confidence

Our work with our clients has shown that clear, consistent communication makes all the difference. We’ve learned that keeping residents informed at every stage — from assessment to aftercare — builds trust and leads to better overall satisfaction.

Pace Matters – and Timing Helps

We know from the wider market that the pace and scale of Wave 3 delivery has been slower than anticipated. Whether it’s waiting for contract award notices, finalising contracts, or mobilising supply chains, it’s safe to say we’re behind where the industry thought we would be. However, clients who moved early are now seeing momentum build — with installations already underway. We’re fortunate to be partnering with organisations who’ve hit the ground running: many are already delivering assessments at scale, and several are progressing into installs. Their forward planning has enabled us to mobilise quickly and start delivering impact where it’s needed most.

Compliance is Not a Tick-Box

With tighter documentation and evidence requirements, and the transition to PAS2030/35:2023, Wave 3 has reminded us that compliance isn’t just about passing audits — it’s about maintaining integrity. Our delivery teams have doubled down on photographic evidence, retrofit declarations, and PAS 2035standards, ensuring that every install stands up to scrutiny.

People Come First

Whether it’s a resident receiving loft insulation or a family benefiting from solar PV, we never lose sight of the people behind the projects. Our goal is not just to install — it’s to educate, reassure, and leave a lasting positive impression. That’s why we’ve invested in training our teams to lead with empathy and professionalism.

Data is Our Compass

We’re using project data to improve delivery in real-time — tracking completion rates, lead times, resident feedback, and install quality. These insights allow us to refine our approach, anticipate issues, and consistently raise our standards across every install.

Clarity on Funding Is Crucial

Clarity and confidence in investment are essential. Businesses require the government to instill confidence for future investments in the sector, which includes training skilled heating engineers and retrofit installers, as well as manufacturing insulation and clean heating technologies in UK plants.

Greenstorm, along with 52 other businesses and related trade bodies involved in home upgrade installations, manufacturing, and finance have signed a joint letter urging the government to fulfill their manifesto commitment to invest £13.2 billion in the Warm Homes Plan.
